Study Delves into Social Media Buzz and Movie Success

This little tidbit may be interesting for those covering entertainment. A new study as highlighted in The Hollywood Reporter collected data on 25 movies (blockbuster and indie) and found "a direct correlation between the number of social media postings about a movie on a given day, and the number of people who intended to purchase tickets."

It's certainly an interesting study and one that can, at least gauge what people will be talking about. Social media heat may also explain why full page ads have seemingly vanished for tentpole films of late in many papers.
